Spirit World

I'd love to appropriate the idea of the Twilight/Gloom from the "Night Watch" books (by Sergi Lukyanenko), with some customizing.

If one pops into the first level of the Back Dimensions of the spirit world, one can see foggy versions of the Front Dimension "Real World", and one moves at 3x normal rate relative to the "Real World" (so the folks back in the Real World seem to be moving at 1/3 normal rate, from your perspective). When you're in one level deeper than a given target, you can see the aura of the target (so to see the aura of someone on the third level, you'll have to look into or be on the fourth level). Real World things that have been moved in a span of hours equal to the level's "speed factor" are intangible relative to individuals and objects on that given level. All other objects are immobile.

If one pops into the second level, one can see foggy versions of what's in the first level, and can move 3x faster (so you're now going 9x relative to the real world). Similarly, each level makes things 3x.

Level Factor Motion Window
1 3 3 hours
2 9 9 hours
3 27 1 day
4 81 3.5 days
5 243 1.5 weeks
6 729 1 month
7 2,187 3 months
8 6,561 9 months
9 19,683 2 years
10 59,049 6 years
11 177,147 20 years
12 531,441 60 years
AND SO ON
  • The amount of access one can get through/around such a moving object is equal to the distance it was moved. If a window was just opened a crack in the last few hours, one couldn't climb through the window unless one could have fit through the crack. Multiple objects moving in orchestration are compared separately, so even if someone slips through a door, as long as both the door and the person (and the air around them all) moved in the span of time, you're fine.
  • Yes, the Earth is revolving about 900 MPH, and orbiting at 67,000 MPH around the Sun, but the Spirit World is largely composed of Handwavium. Deal with it.

Being in the spirit world whittles away at your life. The details for this will depend on the stat-mechanics, but it'd be something like +rolling dice vs. your Willpower each time-span, with a screw-up meaning your Willpower is whittled down by one. This gets more difficult the further down you get (so you're more likely to get whittled down faster on the 12th level than on the 2nd level).
